Hey, I'm Chidambaram.

My name has a simple, repeating rhythmic pattern: Chi-dam followed by ba-ram.

I was born and raised in Chennai, India in the 90s. After completing high school, I moved a thousand miles northeast to study at one of the top engineering schools in the country. Although I ended up earning degrees in engineering, I was deeply curious about research in the basic sciences. So I began my PhD, which took me to EPFL, Switzerland. Surviving the culture shock of a lifetime, and switching schools midway, I defended my doctoral thesis in theoretical computer science four-and-a-half years later at ETH Zürich. After a short celebratory trip to the Canary Islands, and making the difficult decision to leave academia, I soon started as a Software Engineer at Google Zürich, where I am employed to this day.

While life has taken me full circle from engineering to research and back, I find it rewarding to continue engaging in both perspectives. This is especially true today as the technology landscape rapidly evolves with the rise of deep neural networks.

In the last few years, I have also had the fortune and privilege of discovering and nurturing my interest in music. This continues to be a fascinating and fun journey and I hope to share some of that here as well.
